20π Antiaromatic Isophlorins without Metallation or Core Modification**

چکیده

Isophlorins (two-electron-reduced porphyrins) with 20π antiaromaticity have been synthesized by metallation or core modification (replacing the inner NHs less bulky atoms) thus far. The core-modification number (CMN) is an important factor for stability of isophlorins against their oxidation to porphyrins. However, small CMN (≤ 2), i.e., without significant modification, are difficult synthesize and understanding structure–antiaromaticity relationships. Herein, we report synthesis free-base (metal-free) antiaromatic no (CMN=0) first time in literature. β-Tetracyanoporphyrins were successfully reduced hydrazine corresponding under aerobic conditions. These porphyrin/isophlorin transformations reversible. Their structure studied via 1 H NMR UV-vis/near-infrared absorption spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction theoretical calculations.

Polycyclic antiaromatic hydrocarbons.

Magnetically induced current densities have been calculated for a series of hydrocarbons consisting of hexadehydro[12]annulene rings alternatingly fused with benzenes. The calculations show that all molecular rings of the studied molecules sustain paramagnetic ring currents. The new class of molecules is therefore coined polycyclic antiaromatic hydrocarbons (PAAH).

Stacked antiaromatic porphyrins

Aromaticity is a key concept in organic chemistry. Even though this concept has already been theoretically extrapolated to three dimensions, it usually still remains restricted to planar molecules in organic chemistry textbooks. Stacking of antiaromatic π-systems has been proposed to induce three-dimensional aromaticity as a result of strong frontier orbital interactions. However, experimental ...

Cyclobutadiene: the antiaromatic paradigm?

There is probably no other single molecule that has fascinated experimental and theoretical chemists so consistently over the past 40 years as has cyclobutadiene (CBD). On average, 16 publications which deal, in one form or another, with the parent compound C4H4 and 40 which deal with cyclobutdienes in general have appeared in every year of this time span, and there are probably many more on de...

Fused core-modified planar antiaromatic 32π heptaphyrins: unusual synthesis and structural diversity.

The condensation reaction of fused dithienothiophene (DTT) diol with a core-modified tripyrrane led to the formation of acid and its concentration dependent products, sapphyrin and heptaphyrin. The single crystal X-ray analysis of sulphur and selenium heptaphyrin exhibits planar conformation owing to fusion. The experimental and theoretical calculations revealed the antiaromatic electronic stru...

1 Metal preferences and metallation

The metal-binding preferences of most metalloproteins do not match their metalrequirements. Thus, metallation of an estimated 30% of metalloenzymes is aided by metaldelivery systems, with ~25% acquiring preassembled metal-cofactors. The remaining ~70% are presumed to compete for metals from buffered metal-pools. Metallation is further aided by maintaining the relative concentrations of these po...
